  Lucky Star’s Longshots, Inc is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides safe, lifelong, permanent homes to the “Longshots”.

Named for our first rescued horse, Longshot Pete”.

LSL provides rescue and retirement for horses (of all ages & breeds) that have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or unable to perform to their previous use/competitive abilities. We are dedicated to providing all the horses with diligent, daily care for their individual needs.

Lucky Stars Longshots was founded in 2023 to answer the need for lifelong care for Rescued and Retired horses. Founders, Vanessa Volker and Janice Volker of Lucky Star Equine, have been an integral part the equine industry for more than 30 years. Through boarding, training, lessons and showing, including rescue and rehabilitating horses, it became clear there was a need for the next step in life for rescue & retired horses and horses who can no longer perform to their previous use/competitive abilities. 

Lucky Stars Longshots operates in Fort Collins CO

Currently, Lucky Star's Longshots is home to 7 horses, a mini burro and a mini hinny. They range in age from 5 years old to 33 years old!
